International Women's Day, celebrated on 8 March, is a global holiday dedicated to the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also serves as a reminder of the need to continue the fight for women's rights, gender equality and the elimination of discrimination. This day symbolizes the solidarity of women around the world and reminds us of the importance of their role in society.

History of International Women's Day
The holiday dates back to the early 20th century, when women began to actively fight for their rights, including the right to vote, decent working conditions and equal pay. One of the key events was the labor movement in the United States in 1908, when 15,000 women took to the streets of New York demanding shorter working hours, better working conditions and the right to vote.

The first International Women's Day was organized in 1911 on the initiative of Clara Zetkin, a German socialist and activist, at the International Conference of Socialist Women in Copenhagen. The day was celebrated on March 19 in several European countries, including Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland, with rallies and demonstrations that emphasized the importance of women's rights.

After the 1917 Russian Revolution, women demanded "bread and peace," which played a key role in the subsequent overthrow of the monarchy. Since then, March 8 has become a symbolic date to celebrate women's struggle for their rights.

How is International Women's Day celebrated
The holiday is celebrated in different ways in different countries:

Rallies and demonstrations. Women take to the streets to draw attention to the problems of gender inequality and demand equal rights.
Forums and conferences. International and local events are held to discuss issues of gender policy, women's rights and their role in society.
Cultural events. Concerts, exhibitions, and film screenings dedicated to women and their achievements are held in many countries.
State events. In some countries, this day is recognized as an official holiday and a day off. In Russia, post-Soviet countries and some other countries, International Women's Day is perceived as a day when men give women flowers, gifts and express gratitude for their contribution to society and family.
